This started as a blog about our journey in trying to conceive, IVF, the loss of our little angel, my pregnancy and birth of our twins, and our little surprise munchkin. Now we are all on a journey with the Army. This has become more of an update of our life but if you read from the beginning you will find info about our IVF experiences.

Back from Retrieval
Well everything went good I think. We ended up with 9 eggs. I could have sworn that the nurse said 10 in the recovery room but I was way out of it. When I asked again later she said we ended up with 9. That's a nice solid number..right!??? I hope so. We'll find out tomorrow how many fertilized. Still looking at Saturday for our transfer day. The nurse was very nice and wished us luck as she is off on Saturday. We got there about 6:45AM and found the right place with no problem. The nice nurse started my IV and gave me an antibiotic in it. About 8am the anesthesiologist came in and asked me all the normal questions and then we went to the "retrieval" room. At that point Nick went in another room and did his part. :-) The retrieval room was a little scary. LOL They had big cushiony "stirrups" and I realized I'm really short because it was kind of hard to "jump" onto the table. LOL They strapped my legs into the stirrups and had my arms strapped down on the sides of me. I'm sure it looked very odd. I felt very odd. The nurse asked if I felt relaxed and I looked at her like she was nuts because I was very NOT relaxed. LOL I was a nervous wreck! The anesthesiologist said oh you will be in a minute. Right after he said that I had this strange taste in my mouth and everything got blurry and then I was out. Next thing I knew I was in recovery. I was shivering and freezing and had the shakes bad so the loaded me up with nice warm blankets. That was nice. :-) Then I had to rest for a bit, drink some 7Up and eat some crackers. Once I could go to the bathroom (pee) they released me. ANYWAY so now I'm in bed at home relaxing for a bit. I'm going to do my Anji "rest and rejuvination" section of my IVF meditation CD and take it easy for a bit. Hopefully I'm feeling better by tonight for some fireworks. FINGERS CROSSED for some fertilizing!!!!
