26 Weeks and Officially Off Work (updated with ultrasound pics)

I had my 26 week appointment yesterday and the babies look great. We didn't get their weights this time but all looks well with them. They have decided however to do some changing of positions. They have both gone transverse on me! Walker is still on the bottom but his head is to the left now and body is to the right with his head facing up. Jocelyn is on the top with her head on the right and body on the left. She is facing down so they're looking at each other. No wonder I feel like I have a head and butt in my rib cage - I DO!!! LOL IF they don't move back to get at least Walker (who is "presenting") in the head down position I'll be in for a c-section. I still have time but it seems like they are running out of room quickly. OH - and check out the little "baby globe" on the right side of the blog (the one with the twins floating around in it with the countdown). I have less than 100 days till my official due date (you can click on the numbers and they change to different countdowns). How exciting!!

As for me - I've lost a centimeter on my cervical length. I'm down to 4cm now. That's still very good and the DR said since I started at 5 I have plenty of room to lose some before they become overly concerned. Once I get down to 3 cm they'll see me every week (if not before for other reasons). At 2.5cm they start watching me a lot closer. SO right now I go back in another 2 weeks (9/24). I talked to him about my dizziness, exhaustion (I'm not sleeping much at all at night because of my hip pain), and inability to drive well (because I hit the steering wheel now and can barely reach the pedals). He said NO MORE WORK!!! He said I need to be home getting a lot more rest and this is the perfect time for me to go out. My eyes started tearing up when he said that. I was just so thankful. I hate to be a whiner but I'm SO tired and I just feel like I'm not getting enough rest to give the babies what they need. SO I'm happily at home resting on the couch. Yesterday was my first official day and it's still sinking in that I really am not going back into work right now. It's strange! I am thinking that if I had to pick a day to go out yesterday was ideal because even laying on the couch all day I was just exhausted. I think some of my uncomfortableness stems from the babies positions or maybe because they're getting bigger. I just feel heavier in the belly and get short of breath very quickly. I am sure this is all normal but I am sure glad to be home dealing with it where I can change positions easily and lay down a LOT more.

We have our Babies Shower on Saturday and I can't wait. I'm sure it will be fun and it will be so nice to see people I haven't seen for awhile. :-) Anyway - here's the update on the Babies development:

Fetal Development Week 26
At long last, your little swimmer can see the womb! Your miracle’s little eyelids have finally separated (they were fused closed previously) and they’re probably having their first moments of sight as you read this (or maybe it already happened while you were brushing your teeth or watching Oprah or something). In addition to seeing their little studio in your belly, they’ve recently acquired the ability to say “yes” and “no” in rudimentary sign language as they can now move their head back and forth. This is also the time where your little super star’s head hair is starting to grow! A cute little cowlick or two may be springing into position right now, getting ready for years of cute-but-stubborn bed-head. Also, their toenails have grown in and you little raisin continues to slowly pile up fat beneath their still-loose skin. Most importantly, brain tissue and neurons are all developing at a rapid pace, increasing their (genius-level?) brain activity and will continue to function at accelerated levels for the first seven to eight years of childhood!

Here's our little cutie pies (no 3D ones this time but some great shots anyway...click on picture to make bigger):

Here's Belly Pics for the week - and yes I look tired and run down - mostly because I feel tired and run down today (ok this whole week so far) ;-):

Have fun at your shower!!! Good timing on the party, since the longer you wait the more uncomfortable you'll be.

Stopping work sounds like a very smart move! Stay home, rest as much as possible, and pamper yourself as much as you can...you are so close to your 3rd trimester and it will get more difficult to get around as the weeks progress.

Good luck!!!
