Happy 2nd Birthday Walker and Jocelyn!!
My little twinkies turned 2 years old on November 26th! I can't believe they have been a part of my life for almost 3 years. Of course I have dreamed of them for many many years. It's amazing how our lives have changed over the course of the last 3 years. I went from wondering if I'd ever have any more children to a house full of babies! I am very thankful. Very overwhelmed most of the time but very thankful. LOL My pregnancy with the twins is full of precious memories. Being pregnant with one baby feels so amazing but being pregnant with multiples is in a category of it's own. Feeling kicks, movements, hiccups and wondering which baby it is. Feeling them interact with each other is just crazy. I loved going to the ultrasounds to see how they were doing (and with a multiple high risk pregnancy you get a LOT of ultrasounds!) and watch them kick each other. LOL That hasn't changed by the way. ;-) I have known these children since they were just embryos in a petri dish waiting to come home to Momma. Right before our IVF I had a dream that we were getting the nursery ready for boy/girl twins. From the beginning of that cycle it felt like it was all destined to happen. I have loved these babies from the moment I saw their little embryo pictures. :-) As my pregnancy progressed I got bigger and bigger and BIGGER! LOL I didn't think I could get any bigger. I couldn't sleep, my hands went numb, and I contracted almost constantly. Being the stubborn kiddos that they are they were breech and transverse and put no pressure on my cervix (which was good) so there was no hurry to get them out besides I couldn't breathe or feel my hands anymore. LOL Finally at 36 weeks, 6 days we had a c-section. I remember walking to the Operating Room and having to tell the nurse to SLOW DOWN. LOL I couldn't walk that fast. As they were being born it was just such a surreal moment. This couldn't be happening to me - finally?? After all these years of wishing for another baby. It was almost like watching it happen to someone else. After a pretty yukky recovery I finally was able to hold my babies and it all sunk in they were really mine. I was and still am overflowing with love for them. The first 4 months were a complete blur. I wondered if I'd ever sleep in my bed or even laying down again. I wondered if they would ever take a bottle so I could get a little bit of a break. Of course all 3 things happened again. LOL If only someone had told me that at 6 months your little babies start to turn into little people!! LOL It seems like at 6 months it suddenly got easier. Their little personalities started really coming out and they sure haven't stopped. LOL When we found out I was pregnant with Ryder they had JUST turned 8 months old. What a shocker! There were definitely challenges being pregnant with two little ones but we made it through and had some great help! As the year progressed we had to say bye-bye to Daddy as he went off to Basic Training for the Army. We missed him on their 1st birthday but because their birthday fell on Thanksgiving we were all able to talk to him! When they were 15 months old we moved to El Paso, TX for our first duty station, Fort Bliss. A month later Ryder was born. They did fantastic with him from the beginning and after a week or so it was like he'd always been a part of their life. When they were 18 months old their big brother, Nate, moved to Kansas and that was a sad day. They love him a lot. Luckily he was able to come back and visit for 3 weeks this past November and spend their 2nd birthday with them. We spent their 2nd birthday with new friends that we have met here and it was very nice. Walker and Jocelyn sure have come a long way in 2 years. They run, they jump, they talk, they eat just about any food, they are learning how to express their feelings more and more (which is very important for our very passionate Walker). They have grown by leaps and bounds. Walker is now 28 1/2 lbs and 34 1/2 inches and Jocelyn is 25 1/2 lbs and 32 3/8 inches! Walker is all boy with a LOT of feelings. LOL He loves to run, jump, and get dirty. He also loves to figure things out. He is a thinker and we try to keep him busy thinking. It makes things run a little smoother. He's definitely prone to temper tantrums and we thing (aka hope!) that as he talks more he will get better with those. He's doing a lot better with words but still has a hard time expressing his feelings and getting out what he wants. He's a very sweet boy who loves to cuddle. Jocelyn is a sweet little thing. She's quite petite compared to her brothers. She loves reading, drawing, and her dolls. Don't get me wrong, she has her temper tantrums too. Hers are more like meltdowns because Walker has done something to her or she's tired. She's a little more even tempered. They're almost opposite of what they were when they were first born. She was our little drama queen who was VERY loud and Walker was just a laid back quiet little dude. Oh how things change. LOL They both love to climb and be outside. They LOVE to help. Any little job I can find them they are SO happy. They also love their little brother. They are pretty good with him and always try to find a toy for him to play with or let them come in their room to play. Now they may decide they like the toy he's playing with and take it from him LOL but they usually find another toy to replace it with. We've definitely hit the terrible 2's but we'll get through it and I can't wait until they're 4 and 5 and hitting that stage. I have VERY good memories of those ages. LOL
It was so nice to have my kids together for 3 weeks in November. It's weird now that Nate is "grown up" that I don't have them all under one roof. I suppose that happens when you have kids that are 17 years apart! LOL Nathan turned 19 on December 5th and is doing pretty good. It seems like just yesterday that I was celebrating his 2nd birthday! Just shows how fast they grow up! Before I know it he'll be married with children. Yikes!! OK don't make me a Grandma yet. LOL He finished up high school in Kansas and he should be getting his diploma this week. We're very anxious for that so that he can go into the Navy recruiter. They won't do anything with him until he has that wonderful piece of paper. He is currently staying with my Dad in Omaha and working as a Valet at a hospital up there. He likes his job but says it is VERY cold. At least the company gave him a big warm coat. I couldn't imagine being outside for 8+ hours every day up there!
Ryder turned 8 months old on the 3rd of December and he's just speeding along in his development. He is now 22 lbs and 29 inches. He sits up, crawls, and has just started pulling himself up and walking around furniture this week! He wants to be like his big brother and sister so bad! LOL He continues to be a pretty content little baby. He's very easy going thank goodness. His sleeping is going great and he is doing fantastic on finger foods and sippy cups.
Nick and I continue to keep busy between his work and the kiddos. We've also stayed busy taking Portraits for friends and me doing my Scentsy business. We're staying here for the holidays but hope to go back to visit Omaha sometime in the next year. We hope anyway. :-) Nick is scheduled to go for a 4 week training back to Fort Leonard Wood in July and probably more training before and after that. We're also hoping to get his OCS packet turned in for the January 21st cut-off and hopefully get selected and have a class date for OCS in the next year. We hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season!!!
