As always we have had a busy month in the Wyant household. Nick was in Fort Leonard Wood, MO for training during the first 2 weeks of April. During that time we all got pretty sick with a cold and then Walker got pink eye from the cold and spread it to the rest of us. As you can see from the picture below the poor kid had it bad.
Walker with Pink Eye :-( |
Walker - 30 lbs and 35 1/4 in tall
Jocelyn - 27 lbs and 33 1/4 in tall
Ryder - 25 1/2 lbs and 31 6/8 in tall
I don't leave the house very often but all of these experiences are giving me the confidence I truly need to handle things like this when I have no other choice. It might seem silly to a lot of people but having 3 toddlers is a lot to handle especially when dealing with doctors and that sort of thing. I get easily stressed out. LOL I do just fine at home and we have our routine. When that routine gets disrupted well I tend to stress big time. LOL I'm sure as the kids get older that will get better.

The twins in their big kid undies! |
The weekend after Nick got home we decided to potty train. It was really more Walker's decision than ours. LOL He had been begging to sit on the potty and to wear big boy pants all week. I had purchased the e-book 3 Day Potty Training by Lora Jenson about 2 months ago to start reading and come up with a solid plan. I really just kept putting it off because I just wasn't ready. The thought of potty training scared the daylights out of me. I couldn't wrap my head around how to "do it all". I decided to get a gate (yes ANOTHER gate LOL) for the bathroom so the twins could do their pottying in there and keep Ryder out because he goes straight to the toilet to try and play in it or climb in the tub (and I'm afraid he'll fall in and get hurt). The twins can't open doors yet so the gate seemed the easiest method for me to use. It turned out to be a great decision for me. It has definitely reduced the stress. I can put one on the potty and run out to check on the other 2 and run back in. Really it's a lot of running for me since they can't get in by themselves but it's been worth it to me. Saturday, April 23rd, was the BIG day. We woke up, had breakfast, and then threw their last diaper in the trash. I told them they were big kids now and we don't wear diapers anymore. We wear big boy/girl pants now and we have to keep them dry. I took them each to the bathroom and sat them on the potty and explained that is where pee pee and poop goes. I then told them to tell me when they have to go potty so we can run to the bathroom and go in the potty. Every 10 minutes or so I reminded them to tell me when they have to go and also had them check their undies. If it was dry I made a big deal about it being dry and when they went potty on the toilet I praised them like crazy and they got an M&M. Amazingly they picked it up pretty quickly. During naptime and bedtime I cheated and put rubber pants over their underwear to contain the mess and I did change sheets when they woke up the first 2 days. By the 3rd day they both had the concept down and there were very few accidents. Walker was waking up dry. At this point they are holding it a lot longer and getting better at running to the bathroom. We still have accidents here and there but it's usually when they are really into playing and I haven't reminded them to tell me when they have to potty for awhile. They both are waking up dry now!! It honestly went much better than I anticipated and I am proud to say we did it!! :-) We haven't left the house yet LOL but I did get some piddle pads for their car seats "just in case". We have been 100% diaper free for 11 days now! The only thing I have to figure out now is how to get them to go back to sleep when they wake up early to go potty now. LOL They have been waking around 6:15-6:30 to go and then fight me to go back to bed (their normal wake up time is 6:45am). This morning was 6am and that was a little early for both me and them. They definitely get grumpy mid-morning. If anyone has any suggestions for that one let me know. :-) Next on the list are getting rid of the pacifiers (soon!) and toddler beds which we are in NO hurry to go to. LOL Ryder has done great through the whole potty training period. For the most part he is very patient and self-entertaining. I thank my lucky stars for that one!! LOL

Nate |
My oldest son, Nate, has been living in Mountain Home, Idaho with my sister, Tracy, and her husband since January and he's doing very well there. His original intention was to go into the military and unfortunately it did not work out for him. After some soul searching he has decided to go to college and work towards a Graphic Art degree. He's always been very good at that sort of thing and really enjoys it. He started school last week! He also finally got a job up there! I'm very proud of him and relieved that he has found a path to success.
The kiddos are waking up so break time is over. I'll try to update again soon. Going to be a busy few months ahead. Nick goes to the field for a week this month and then for 6 weeks in June/July. He'll be home most weekends during that time (except the last 10 days). My sister, Tracy, is coming to visit the end of June and first part of July. I'm very excited about that! Then we'll be going home for a visit the beginning of August!! I can't wait to see green again!!!! I honestly cannot tell you how much I miss green! LOL Nick will be going back to Fort Leonard Wood the end of August for 4-5 weeks and during that time we should be finding out if he's selected for OCS (please God let him be selected!!!!) and when he ships out to Fort Benning, GA for that. As long as he gets branched Engineering (which given his degree and experience we can't see why he wouldn't) he will be doing the 2nd part of Officer training at Fort Leonard Wood and as long as he has at least 1 week "snowbirding" time there (which is pretty common to have at least a month or more) then we can all move with him!! I am seriously praying for that as I cannot wait to move. We've been very lucky to have a nice house and meet some wonderful people here but I think both of us are ready to move on and start something new (hopefully that does not include a desert landscape!!! LOL). Cross your fingers all goes well and he gets selected and an early ship date to OCS. LOL I'll definitely keep you all updated. Below are links to pictures over the last couple months. Enjoy!

We did the same program and what has worked for us is we get them up to pee before we go to bed. Kids go down at 8 and around 10 or 11 we take them to the potty. They have been sleeping within 15 minutes of their old wake up time and have been dry all but one accident.
