Yesterday, I had my 33 week appointment and it went pretty well. Kind of boring but I guess boring can be good. I'm all puffy and swollen the last few days so I should have guessed my blood pressure would be good (I apparently go the opposite direction that most people would think). It was 114/78 I believe. The Peri was up in labor and delivery for the first part of the appointment so we mostly talked to the nurse and the ultrasound tech. My hands have been killing me lately. Just hurting and going numb. They're slightly swollen but not like I have Mickey Mouse hands or anything. They just hurt. The nurse said that I may have carpel tunnel (pregnancy induced) and they could get me braces if I wanted but I'm so close to the end it may be more trouble than it's worth. I agreed with that and said I'll deal unless it gets worse. The ultrasound tech did a quick ultrasound and they were just looking for the amniotic fluid level (which was good), heart rate (both good), and that they were doing 30 seconds at a time of "practice breathing" (also good - although Walker was kind of taking his time giving her his 30 seconds which kind of freaked me out however she said she actually has 30 minutes per baby for them to get their 30 seconds in...but they said they both looked good and did what they were supposed to). For the practice breathing they watch the lungs to open and close as they breathe in/out the amniotic fluid. It's actually pretty cool. She said it's a sign of health and that way they know what to do once they're born. They decided to check my cervix one more time (apparently they're done checking it at 33 weeks) and it's still nice and long (didn't get the # this time). Walker is still breech (his little bum is sitting on my cervix but there is still a pocket between him and the actual cervix so no major pressure on the cervix) and Jocelyn is still transverse. Apparently she's taking up quite a bit of room and her brother is more underneath her. Space is getting tight! We go back next Friday for my next appointment. I'm not sure if they'll do another NST. They decided not to do one this time because everything looked good. He asked me if I had another 3 weeks in me. I just kind of gave him this look like ewww if I have to - and said I think so or I'll try (something along those lines). He laughed and said that we'd be scheduling the c-section about then but as of next week (34 weeks) if anything happens on my own then he won't stop it so he says we're about ready to have us some babies!! WOO HOO!! I know it's good to keep them in there as long as I can but at least hearing him say that makes me feel like it's CLOSE and that they'll be ok if they come. SO on to next week. I'm taking things a week at a time right now just really trying to get through each one. I feel huge and swollen the majority of the time. I hurt everywhere. I'm definitely reaching the end and maximum capacity. ;-) OH and I made up for last week's weight loss. I gained 3 pounds in a week!! That puts me up to a grand total so far of 52 pounds!! HOLY COW! I'm a whale!
Here's the
babies development for Week 33:
For all the weight and bulk you’re lugging around these days, you’d think your little champ should weigh much more than a mere 5 lbs and measly 17 inches in height, but nope, that’s about the average size for a baby in its thirty-third week. In terms of appearances, they’re getting cuter and pudgier every minute as they pile on the baby fat for those adorable little wrist rolls and chubby toes. And as we’re sure you’ve already noticed they’re getting stronger with every passing day. Nowadays, it’s possible to observe a well-placed kick just by watching your belly—but you already knew that didn’t you? Although they’re getting stronger, your bigger-by-the-day baby is losing space to move around, so the actual rate of movement will drop off in the last few weeks, despite that powerful drop-kick they’ve been working on. Hey, did you know you’ll continue feeling their movements even during labor?
Here's my belly pics for this week. I seriously don't see much belly growth but I did gain a whole inch around in a week so I suppose that at least means they're doing some growing in there. :-)
