The kids debating on getting wet in the fountain at Freedom Crossing |
As far as moving news goes we are still waiting to find out the details but we are finally making some progress. Apparently the new MOS (Army career field) is quite different from other ones as far as extensions/re-enlistments go so it took Nick's retention counselor a little while to figure out how to do it correctly. Once she finally got it into HRC things are finally moving. Things are updating in the official system and we are hoping to have official orders HOPEFULLY in the next few weeks so we can get everything (like moving dates and housing in Fort Leonard Wood) finalized. As of right now we are planning on moving sometime during the week of Thanksgiving (either before or after). Either way with the move planned that week we will just be celebrating our actual Thanksgiving a week or so later because let's face it I love Thanksgiving food. LOL We'll have a birthday party for the twins 4th birthday here combined with a going away party early-mid November depending on our actual moving date. It's pretty much only 2 1/2 months away now and I am beyond excited! :-)
The kids are all very excited also. Jocelyn is my little slave driver. She wants to pack something every day. LOL We've decided to do a DITY/PPM move which means that we move ourselves and the military pays us to do it. Besides ensuring that we won't have to pay out in case we are above our weight we should also make a little money on the move which will really help right now. SO basically our days are filled with organizing, getting things set aside for a garage sale, throwing things out, and packing things we won't need in the next few months. Of course we throw in some fun and learning time there also. :-)
The kids are growing so fast! They are all finally talking so much better and doing more big kid things. Big kids cups, etc... We started potty training Ryder in July and he did great the first 2 days but he had a major backslide and wanted nothing to do with it at all. It got to be very negative for both of us and I decided to stop for a little bit. We are using Pampers pull-ups (which I can get about the same price as cheap diapers on Amazon) and he likes to go potty by himself here and there. About 70% of the time he prefers to poop in the potty so that's something. I have been struggling with the decision to get back into it before we move vs. wait until after the holidays and I honestly think we'll probably just keep with what we are doing (the pull-ups and encouragement but not switching to undies yet) until after the move and visit to Omaha for the holidays. Once we get back and settled we are hitting it hard and that boy WILL be potty trained. LOL I hate to wait that long but it's just too close to moving right now. Ryder has given up his naps also for the most part although if I can get him to cuddle up with me while I watch General Hospital (my guilty pleasure of the day LOL) in the afternoon he'll fall asleep for 30-45 minutes and be a much happier boy in the evening without compromising bedtime. The twins haven't been taking naps for awhile now. I try to get them to go in their room and watch a movie and they did good before Ryder stopped naps but adding him to the mix somehow throws it all off. LOL He just has a lot of energy. SO again if I can get him to cuddle up with me the other 2 will usually watch tv quietly or cuddle with me also. Either way it forces me to sit down for an hour which I kind of need. LOL I've been keeping pretty busy with packing and organizing. :-)
My DR appointment last month went really well. The specialist was worth waiting for. She's fantastic. I've been in for a lot of bloodwork over the last month and have an ultrasound scheduled for next week. I go in to see her again this Thursday. She thinks it's possible I have PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) as well as endometriosis and also is sure I'm in peri-menopause. The bloodwork is to help her figure out the PCOS and see where I'm at with the menopause stuff so hopefully she can give me some more answers on Thursday. It's too bad I couldn't get the ultrasound scheduled before my appointment but apparently those are hard to get into here. My ultrasound is actually scheduled at 8 PM! Crazy! She also put me on Effexor which is an anti-depressant. It is supposed to help with the lovely peri-menopausal mood swings and also possibly with the hot flashes. I haven't noticed much help with the hot flashes yet but as far as moods go it has made a BIG difference. I feel much more balanced finally. I think I need to up the dose a little because I can feel myself getting more "edgy" again but I finally feel like myself again and it's wonderful. I really wish I would have given the whole anti-depressant thing a chance sooner. After a lot of research it looks like my serotonin levels are just really low and that causes a lot of problems. It also explains why I crave chocolate like crazy (chocolate increases serotonin). Anyway mood wise I think I'm getting somewhere. Pain wise we are working on that. She had to figure out exactly what she's dealing with before we start treatment. There isn't enough time to do surgery so we may be taking either a dealing with the pain as best we can approach or possibly medication like Lupron to treat the endometriosis (that would put me in a pseudo menopause but it does help the endometriosis until I could get a hysterectomy). SO that is the game plan right now. I'll find out more on Thursday. Tomorrow I get a crown on my tooth that I had the root canal on in June. Joy.... ;-)
Tomorrow marks 5 years since we found out we lost our little one (we went in for our 10 week ultrasound and found out there was no heartbeat). I still think of our little sweetheart and wonder what he or she would have looked like or what his or her personality would be like. You'll always be in my heart and thoughts my sweet little Angel. :-) It's been a pretty miraculous and busy 5 years though. I remember that Fall so well and feeling such pain and despair and wondering if we'd ever be able to have babies. Our prayers were definitely answered and I feel our little Angel has been watching over us all. :-) This is the last ultrasound picture we got of our little one at 8 weeks.
Nick decided to sell his Camaro and was looking to get a 4 wheel drive vehicle to suit us better in Missouri and beyond (except of course if we get Hawaii). LOL Here are a couple pics from right before he sold it. I was kind of sad to see it go because he had put so much time into it but he learned a lot and I think he was just ready to move on:
And here is what he found yesterday. Quite a good deal. It's an 89 Jeep Cherokee with 135,000 miles on it. Runs great and in pretty good condition. It's 4 wheel drive which is what he wanted. I think it is more family friendly and I really like it. He says it's his junker LOL but I think it will be good for him as well as the family since he'll be able to at least take 2 of the kids with him somewhere if he needs to. We debated on just staying with one car since he never actually drove the Camaro so we have been a 1 car family since pretty much early winter but he didn't want to leave me carless. He wants me to be able to enjoy Missouri and get out of the house more which will be nice. :-) Also if he has a big test or needs to do some major studying I can take the kids and go up to Omaha for a few days to give him some quiet. :-) Anyway - here's the Jeep :-)
