I have all sorts of updates! :-) First of all - I had my first OB appointment today and they did an ultrasound. They had me as almost 8 weeks pregnant according to my LMP. Well - turns out I'm way earlier than that. Like almost 2 weeks earlier! We saw one perfectly round little gestational sac (Nick breathed a big old sigh of relief at just one!). Then she saw the yolk sac and the fetal pole. Hmmm...that doesn't sound like an 8 weeker. They normally look like teddy bears. She measured and it was 6 weeks 1 day. We were able to see the heartbeat though! YAY! There it was nice and strong flashing like crazy. The Dr. said it probably had just started recently since I was just 6 weeks. My new due date is April 12th which is a good thing...more about that later. The 2 week adjustment also makes my hcg level sound way better. It was 1197 on August 3rd which would have put me 14 days past ovulation according to my ultrasound today and holy cow is that high! Unless there is an identical hiding behind the one there was definitely only one and it definitely was measuring and having all the properties of a 6 week old baby. Maybe it's just a healthy and strong little munchkin. SO all is well. I go back in 2 weeks for my actual 8 week OB appointment and another ultrasound so I guess at least I get another ultrasound. :-)
Sleeping Babies - We did sleep training much to my dismay at first. We followed Healthy Sleep Habits Happy Child and I actually read the whole thing (until a year old anyway) and I followed it. After getting up with them every hour on the hour a few nights ago I decided I couldn't do it anymore. Not for them. Not for me. They were getting whiny and crabby during the day. Their naps were getting messed up and their sleeping and night was getting worse. We did extinction for sleeping through the night and it went better than expected. The first night they went to sleep fine. Walker woke up about an hour and a half later and cried about 18 minutes before falling asleep again. He didn't wake Jocelyn as he was just crying off and on that time. Jocelyn woke up about 2 hours later and she screamed for 50 minutes. 50 LONG minutes. She's our loud crier. She sounded more angry than anything else. Unfortunately Walker is very sensitive to her and woke 10 minutes into her crying. He cried off and on again for a whole hour. Poor kiddo. After that I heard them talking and Nick was making jokes saying I better be careful in the morning they were making plans and passing shanks between the bars. LOL I heard a bit of fussing around 3am but no all out crying. Around 5am they cried a bit but I told myself I wouldn't get them up until 6am. They got up at 6:15am and happy as could be. The 2nd night Walker fussed about 15 minutes around 3am and that was it. They woke at 6:30 happy as could be. The 3rd night both fussed while finding their Paci's but other than that slept through the night!! WOO HOO! Last night Jocelyn slept 11.5 hours and Walker slept 11 hours. I am SO thankful. They seem MUCH happier, they are eating a lot better, and their naps are getting better. They seem to love bed and really like to sleep now. In some ways I wish I would have done it earlier but honestly I wasn't emotionally ready for Cry It Out. I wish I wouldn't have had to do it but I know it was best for everyone. SO I have babies that sleep through the night - WOO HOO!
OK - third and final update. Nick finally got word from his recruiter and the slot that we all anticipated opening up early didn't come through. He was scheduled to go to Basic in October - then they said definitely moving up to August. NOW unfortunately we're back to October. Which means he'll be coming home for Christmas Exodus (mandatory Christmas break during Army training) but that also adds on 2 weeks to his training. He'll now graduate mid-February and we'll move then. Hence, the 2 week addition to my pregnancy will help a little bit. When we thought we'd be moving in December I thought that would be a great time for moving (pregnancy wise). Now I'll be around 31 weeks or so when he graduates and we're gonna have to move ASAP and get me to where I need to be. I'll have to call ahead as soon as we get our Orders and find out where we are moving to and get an OB set up and all my records transferred. Should be interesting. Anyway - that's the news. I'll update again soon. :-)
